Being a mother has been my driving force as a family photographer. There’s always moment in each day that I want to remember forever, and I usually find myself snapping a picture with my phone. Each of those moments is inspiring to capturing not only the little moments of my own children, but yours as well. Every little curl in the sunshine is another opportunity to tell a family story.
I’d like to say I’m ‘down to earth’, but who knows what that actually means? What I can tell you is that I am a Colorado born & raised girl with an obsession for root beer and flip flops!
As a child I thought I wanted to be a painter because I was obsessed with lines and color theory, then I got my first Pentax camera in high school. So, I started out on a journey many photographers do — I shot my first wedding.
I shot a bit of everything over the years trying to find myself and my voice in this big world of photography. But I've found that I am happiest working side by side with my husband, aka my trusty assistant, and every now and then one or two of my own kiddos.
I wholeheartedly believe in the power of families, and that’s saying a lot given that I raise one of my kids apart from his father. I love that his daughter & my middle daughter think they are “real, REAL sisters” and that his girlfriend and I chat and joke about all of our kids.
The Colorado hippie in me is showing but I tell you this because every family is so different and yet so relatable no matter what the littledetails are. My own family is why I am passionate about families and it took me many years to get there.
I actually had my first big AH HAH! moment almost 3 years ago at a family maternity session. The tot was tired, mom seemed a little frazzled, and I thought I was losing dad. I switched gears to focus on just the mom and her gorgeous belly and their 2 year old fell asleep in dad’s arms and realized in that moment this WAS their family story.
I had dad step into the frame with his wife. They all took a deep breath and just let their little sleep right there on mom’s belly. It was, and always will be, my favorite moment of a family session — when I stopped trying to control the session and let the moment happen naturally (with some strategic posing of course).

We love animals and have a tiny zoo. We have two cats: Pumpkin & Runo; three dogs: Drake, Kayda, and Pixel; and one rescued salamander our girls named Sally (who’s a boy).
My oldest son is 12 years older than our youngest daughter… we’ll be doing this parenting thing forever!
My husband and I each have our own son’s from previous marriages and two beautiful daughters together. Crazy thing is, our daughters look almost nothing alike but they each look like one of their brothers.

Being the mom of a teen I wish I could remember the exact sound of my son’s tiny giggle or the smile on his face when he wrapped both tiny arms around my neck.
